Francesco Piemontesi joins the Hallé and Sir Mark Elder at Bridgewater Hall on 5 May 2016 for a performance of Dvorák Piano Concerto in G minor. The concerto is part of an all-Dvorák programme that also includes the composer’s Moravian Duets. Piemontesi recorded the piece with the BBC Symphony Orchestra in 2013, a recording that Gramophone praised for it’s “feisty, committed” performance that “makes you wonder if it isn’t time the Dvořák gained a place in the regular concerto repertoire.”
Piemontesi then travels to Germany to perform Mozart Piano Concerto No.25 with the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra and Andrea Marcon on 7 and 8 May, and the following week performs Mozart Piano Concerto No.26 with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and Ton Koopman on 12 May. Piemontesi performed Mozart Piano Concerto No.26 with the Aurora Orchestra at the BBC Proms in 2015, which attracted high critical praise:
“The high point of this Prom was Francesco Piemontesi’s perfectly-judged performance as soloist in Mozart’s ‘Coronation’ piano concerto, with a celeste briefly roped in for a cadenza.”
